No-Gi BJJ

Fast grappling without the gi: wrestling, body control, and submissions, in a room that has produced world champions.

See the schedule

No-gi at ATT Atlanta is rash guards and shorts, underhooks instead of collar grips, and a pace that pulls from wrestling and leg locks. New students are expected. The room is built so a beginner and an advanced grappler can both get a hard round.

Belt promotions at ATT Atlanta are typically awarded for training in the gi. No-gi is still part of a complete grappling week.

Questions

How is no-gi different from the gi?+

The gi uses collar and sleeve grips. No-gi uses a rash guard and shorts, and the grips move to the body and underhooks.

What do I wear?+

A rash guard, compression shorts or leggings, and grappling shorts. No pockets or zippers.

How often is no-gi on the schedule?+

Through the week. The schedule page has the exact hours.

Should I train both?+

Yes, if you can. Each style changes how you hold and move, and training both makes you harder to surprise.

Do I get a belt in no-gi?+

At ATT Atlanta, BJJ belt promotions typically require training in the gi.

Excellent gym! Stopped in to train while traveling. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. The 6:30 BJJ class was great and challenging. Will definitely stop in again, the next time I’m in Atlanta. Highly recommended for those that live in the area or visiting.

One of the best gyms I have ever been to. ATT Atlanta has an awesome facility and great instructors. I have been training in mixed martial arts for about 7 years and jiu-jitsu for about 9 years and I have had the luxury of training all over the country, so that is saying a lot. I myself am a gym owner in northern Alabama and count myself lucky to be close enough to soak up some of that knowledge.

After moving to Atlanta, I searched for a new Jiu Jitsu home. I’ve had a wonderful experience training with ATT and I have been impressed with the professionalism, the organization, class beginning on time, the cleanliness, and friendliness. Being a female who trains in a male dominated sport, it can be very intimidating to walk into a new gym and not know what to expect. ATT has been a comforting experience where I feel at home.
